Fan art rendition of Still Corners’s 2021 album Slow Air.
While listening to the music, the colors from the original cover felt fitting: Pink, orange, and yellow to reflect the desert’s heat, contrasted with lilac and purple to bring the shadow elements of the night.
Why Slow Air?
“The album title is derived from the sultry heat in Texas which causes everything and everyone to slow down.” – Still Corners
The Process
I envisioned a woman fanning herself, surrounded by a hallucinatory pattern of animals native to the Sonoran desert. The buzzing sounds in the song “Welcome to Slow Air” made me think of decay, so I gave the woman a cow skull mask.
