Hi Frenchies!!
Do you ever get what seems like a cool idea, but then never act on it? I do, all the time. But the other day I was wondering what would happen If I went through with one of them. I’ve been thinking of doing a 100-day project for a while, probably more than 6 months, and I finally settled for something.
I’m both excited and scared to announce what is my most ambitious personal project to date:
🎵100 Sleeves: One hundred redesigns of Album Cover Art🎵
The plan is to create a new album cover art for a music album that I love in 4 days. So more than a 100-day project this is a 4-day project that I’m going to repeat 100 times: the project is going to take me nearly TWO YEARS to complete. 😱
The time frame is probably the reason I felt resistant to going through with this project, but I know I will feel so proud of myself even if I only get to cover 25. After some analysis, I realized that beyond my fear there’s more to win than there’s to lose.
I would base my designs on whatever the music or the lyrics inspires me to create, not necessarily on the actual covers. I confess I’m scared of creating farts for albums that already have great covers, but I’m willing for it to happen.
And I’m already expecting the result to be as random and unique as the music.
Once I decided I was going to do it I got so excited that I created this poster!
Why am I doing this??
- ✨For fun (Did I tell you I love music? :p)
- ✨For practice (a lot!)
- ✨To become more confident with my work
- ✨To prove to myself what I’m capable of
- ✨To create the art I want to get paid for
At first, I decided to follow a list that I built, but to not dwell on my perfectionism I decided to ditch it 🙃 I will just follow my heart as the project unfolds, choosing a new album every week, to build trust in myself and my decisions.
