100 Sleeves Challenge: Silver Spoons & Broken Bones

Original Cover Design

Sleeve #25 for my project #100albumsleeves !! I just hit the first quarter mark!🎉

I wasn’t sure what album I was going to do this week, so I played my music library in shuffle mode and paid attention to the songs that made my head move. This week I particularly enjoyed Stone Gods’ “Defend or Die” and it took back many memories (I particularly remember my younger brother making a silly dance while singing “I believe in a thing called love” by The Darkness 🤣).

Back in 2008, I didn’t particularly like the hard rock band The Darkness, but because Stone Gods were formed by some ex-members I got to know of them through some friends and family who were fans.

I don’t know of many people who know of Stone Gods (or that like them at all), but it could be because they were a short live band. They have been on hiatus since 2010 and have only one album published.

Images and moodboard that served as inspiration for my redesign.

I had little time to work on this cover this week and I decided to keep it simpler. I was inspired by the aesthetic of the original album cover and it occurred to me to represent each band member as a skull-shaped spoon.

The cool thing about simpler designs is that they’re easier to adapt to other items like t-shirts and tote bags, so I had fun making more mockups.
