This post is part of the 100 Sleeves: One hundred Album Covers Re-Designed project, a personal challenge I created for myself at the end of 2020. The goal is to create 100 album covers inspired by the music I’m enjoying at the moment.
Journey of Souls is the second album by Norwegian Power Metal band Keldian.
I discovered this band around 2010 when I read about them in a blog post on @jinxdotcom
They mostly explore sci-fi and out-of-space themes which I found quite interesting. Ever since I’ve been a fan.

About the album cover art
For this album cover, I took inspiration mainly from two songs
- “Lord of Polaris”: A song about conquering northern lands. Polaris, also called the North Star, is the brightest star in the Ursa Minor constellation.
- “Dreamcatcher”: In this song, they talk about the possibilities of souls traveling through space and time before reincarnation.
I was tempted to go the sci-fi route for a moment but decided to go more into the spiritual side of the album.
By showing the soul of a polar bear cub traveling through the Aurora Borealis while its mother wondered if they’ll ever be reunited again.
A space in the sky is reserved for her to make the journey when the time comes…
