This post is part of the 100 Sleeves: One hundred Album Covers Re-Designed project, a personal challenge I created for myself at the end of 2020. The goal is to create 100 album covers, a new one every week, inspired by the music I’m enjoying at the moment.
I listened to Band of Skulls for the first time around 2016, because a friend of mine showed them to me. “Baby Darling Doll Face Honey” is the album I got hooked on back then and the one I came back to now, unknowingly that they were releasing a new album just this week (“Marsden & Richardson“). I found this last part a really nice surprise as now I have new music to listen to, and this was not a band I was following the track of.
For my design, I took inspiration from the album title, some of the lyrics, and the fact that [almost] all of Band of Skulls album covers are symmetric designs.
Band of Skulls studio album covers from 2009 to 2019
In a double-axis symmetry, I drew ribcages as the central element and surround them with bees, honeycomb patterns, doll eyes, rag dolls, lips, diamonds, pearls, skulls, lollipops, wishbones, and stars.

I shared a work-in-progress image with my Ko-fi supporters and they suggested I made the final version available as a download. I gotta say it looks really good.
